At 17, rue Sault-au-Matelot in the heart of the Old Port of Quebec, housed in the charming Hotel Le Priori. There is a current and warm décor, the kichen is inspired by the flavors and fragrances from around the  world. We have a large inner courtyard with garden terrace in season, heated and protected from the weather.

Christian Lemelin arrived in the kitchen at the age of 17. Having discovered a new passion, he updated his skills in the food service industry at L’École Hôtelière de la Capitale.

He continued his apprenticeship at two of the best restaurants in Quebec, the St-Amour under the direction of Jean-Luc Boulay and Laurie Raphaël, under the direction of Daniel Vézina. He completed his formation with a 4 month training tour in France.

He made his début as a Chef at Momento Restaurant on Cartier Street at the age of 24  to quickly have the privilege of driving his own kitchen at Toast! Restaurant since 2003. It doesn’t stop there. Indeed, the duo of Stéphane D’Anjou & Christian Lemelin opened in 2009, a neighborhood restaurant called ” Simple Snack Sympathique” better known as SSS to the locals.

More recently, in May 2013, they opened a third project, the Pur Sang Bistro Grill at Lac Beauport, where you can find under the same roof, restaurant, “ready-to-go” shop and a catering service.

Christian is always ready to engage himself in the community and to the next generation of cooks. He was particularly involved in the vice-presidency of the Serge Bruyère Foundation and also was the spokesperson for the event of “Toque & Terroir”. Christian teaches sometimes at L’École Hôtelière de la Capitale, the same school where he has studied. We have seen and heard him on a few tv and radio shows in Quebec City.

Stéphane D’Anjou, maître D’

Stéphane D’Anjou began his career in the restaurant business in 1980, working as many students during the summer in restaurants in the lower St. Lawrence, his childhood hometown. He has academic diplomas in kitchen, catering, hotel management, sommelier and administration. Before owning his restaurant, Stéphane worked as a Maitre D, Convention Coordinator and restaurant Director in many restaurants and hotels in Montreal and Eastern Townships.

In 1995, he joined the duo of Jacques Fortier & Jean -Luc Boulay ( St-Amour restaurant ) as a partner of Momento restaurants in Quebec. In 2002, he meets Christian Lemelin with whom he works at Momento Cartier Street for a year and a half. In 2003, they decided to start a business together with the project of TOAST! Restaurant. The duo doesn’t stop there. They opened in 2009, a neighborhood restaurant called ” Simple Snack Sympathique” better known as SSS to the locals.
